A structured path through the foundations of Freudian psychoanalysis, clinical practice, psychosexual development, post-Freudians, orthodox tradition and contemporary applications.
Module 1 - Foundations of Freudian Psychoanalysis
Objective: Introduce the basic concepts of Freudian theory and the initial construction of the psychic apparatus.
- History and context of the emergence of psychoanalysis: hypnosis and the first clinical cases.
- Drive theory: Eros and Thanatos.
- First topography: unconscious, preconscious and conscious.
- Oedipus complex and structuring of the psyche.
- Second topography: Id, Ego and Superego.
- Defense mechanisms: repression, denial, projection and sublimation.
- Transference and countertransference in clinical practice.
Module 2 - Psychoanalytic Clinic and Psychosexual Development
Objective: Deepen Freudian theory on development and the foundations of psychoanalytic clinical practice.
- Stages of psychosexual development: oral, anal, phallic, latency and genital.
- Neurosis, psychosis and perversion.
- Symptom and repression.
- Anxiety and defense.
- Process of cure: abreaction, interpretation and working-through.
- Acting out, repetition, resistance and transference.
Module 3 - Expansions of Freudian Theory: Post-Freudians
Objective: Introduce the main reformulations and expansions of Freudian theory by post-Freudian psychoanalysts.
