Module 1 - Foundations of Freudian Psychoanalysis

Objective: Introduce the basic concepts of Freudian theory and the initial construction of the psychic apparatus.

History and context of the emergence of psychoanalysis: hypnosis and the first clinical cases.
Drive theory: Eros and Thanatos.
First topography: unconscious, preconscious and conscious.
Oedipus complex and structuring of the psyche.
Second topography: Id, Ego and Superego.
Defense mechanisms: repression, denial, projection and sublimation.
Transference and countertransference in clinical practice.

Module 2 - Psychoanalytic Clinic and Psychosexual Development

Objective: Deepen Freudian theory on development and the foundations of psychoanalytic clinical practice.

Stages of psychosexual development: oral, anal, phallic, latency and genital.
Neurosis, psychosis and perversion.
Symptom and repression.
Anxiety and defense.
Process of cure: abreaction, interpretation and working-through.
Acting out, repetition, resistance and transference.

Module 3 - Expansions of Freudian Theory: Post-Freudians

Objective: Introduce the main reformulations and expansions of Freudian theory by post-Freudian psychoanalysts.
